Same Boat Circles for Men
Effective: October 21, 2026
These are the rules for using Same Boat Circles. They're short on purpose. By creating an account, you agree to them.
What this is, and what it isn't
Same Boat Circles puts men going through the same thing into small circles of up to five. You meet on video for eight Fridays and talk in a group chat in between.
It's peer support: men helping each other. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care or professional advice, and nobody in your circle, including us, is acting as your therapist or doctor.
It is not an emergency service. We don't watch the chat in real time and can't respond to emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911.
Who can join
- You must be 18 or older.
- You may only have one account, and it's yours alone.
- Use the name you'd like to go by. It doesn't have to be your legal name, but don't pretend to be someone else.
The promises
When you join a circle, you agree to these:
- Show up on Fridays at 8 PM Central, or say so if you can't.
- What's said in the circle stays in the circle. Don't share another member's story, name, messages or anything that could identify him, outside the circle.
- No judgment. We're all in the same boat.
Not allowed, ever
- Harassment, bullying or threats.
- Hate or slurs about anyone's race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender, disability or anything else they are.
- Sexual content.
- Spam, selling, or recruiting members into other products, groups or schemes.
- Recording or screenshotting sessions or messages to share them.
- Pressuring anyone for money, meetings or personal information.
- Anything illegal.
We have zero tolerance for this. If someone does it, we may remove the content and remove them from their circle or from Same Boat Circles entirely, without warning.
Reporting and blocking
If someone crosses a line, press and hold their message (or use the ⋯ on their card) to report or block them. Reports come to us, and we read every report and act on it as soon as we can. Blocking takes effect immediately. For anything urgent, email hello@sameboatcircles.com.
Circles and dates
- New circles start four times a year. We match men by what they're going through, how long it's been and their age range.
- A circle needs enough men to run. If yours hasn't filled by about a week before it starts, we'll tell you and keep your spot for the next circle.
- We may move, combine or end a circle if we need to, for example if too few men can take part, and we'll tell you if that happens.
- Sessions happen on Google Meet; we send the link before each Friday.
Price
Circles are free. There's no card on file and no trial. If we ever offer something paid, it'll be optional, clearly marked, and you'll never be charged without saying yes.
Your content
What you write is yours. By posting it, you let us store it and show it to the members of your circle so the app can work. That's all we use it for. You can delete your messages, or your whole account, any time.
Ending things
You can leave by deleting your account in the app (Profile → Delete my account). We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
The legal part
We work hard to make Same Boat Circles safe and reliable, but we provide it "as is". We can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free, or what other members will say or do. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other members do. These terms are governed by the laws of Minnesota, USA.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Same Boat Circles after that, you're agreeing to the new version.
